[edit] Beginner's Perspective
I wonder if I can bring a beginner's perspective to this page.
The information is great. But the headlines lost me. I don't know what inline formatting is and it would certainly never occur to me to search for it. I think I even skipped over it when I first came to the site because I was in a hurry and was looking for the words 'text', 'bold' 'italic' etc because that's what I wanted to do, make a word bold.
I also don't know what block elements are.
Although these terms are no doubt correct, I think the page might be more accessible if we use simpler terms.
Eg instead of Inline Formatting, use a headline like:
Text formatting (bold, italic...)
Instead of block elements, use a headline like:
Headlines, indents, lists and quotes
Also, the opening paragraph might explain what markup is (for people who aren't familiar with the term)so they know they've landed in the right place:
This page explains TiddlyWiki's markup - including how to format text and use tables, styles and macros. The TiddlyWiki.org collaborative wiki itself uses the MediaWiki engine, resulting in a slightly different formatting syntax.

I agree; the current structure is a remnant from the original draft. Maybe we could get inspired by the structure of these:
